The Bauhaus-Dessau lawn gets some work done in July 2015. (by Chloé Roubert and Gemma Savio)

"It Takes Work To Get The Natural Look" was an architectural intervention by duo Gemma Savio and Chloé Roubert in the large lawn facing the Bauhaus building. Developed during a 3-month research residency through archival and topographic work, the duo mowed the inscription it takes work to get the natural look in 2 months of flora growth over 3 weeks.

The work explored the labor, technologies and organic matter necessary to produce “nature” – an agent, medium and commodity of modernity – and that continues to sustain our contemporary condition.

A guided walk entitled "It Takes Work to Get the Natural Look: Mapping the Modern Lawn," was accompanied the work. A map was distributed. It can be found here.
